I rented a 2020 GLE 350 for a road trip and I can't figure out how to turn the car completely off without exiting the vehicle. At some point I will want to sleep in the car and I don't want to wake up to a dead battery. Can someone please explain how you shut everything down without actually leaving the vehicle.

 

Try turning off the car, open and then close the door. This works on my 2016.

 

I have slept in my vehicle numerous times. Car camping as it is known around here. The vehicle has turned off each time.

Opening the door I think is the critical step.

From sitting in the drivers seat with engine running:

- press start stop button, engine is now off
- open driver’s door, vehicle electrical system is now off

Now, if you are still sitting in the driver’s seat, close the driver’s door, recline your seat and enjoy your night’s rest.

If you are sleeping in the back, exit the vehicle, close the driver’s door, enter the rear through a side door or liftgate, close the door/liftgate and enjoy your night’s rest.
