GLE350 break controller connection

Hi,
I have 2016 GLE350 4MATIC.
I already towed my Lance trailer 1500 miles using the Curt wireless controller.
The problem is MB some times turns off the power so I really would like to install the permanent break controller.
I purchased Tekonsha 90195 (P3) controller. Just waiting for MB connector to show up.
I pulled back the carpet but can NOT figure out where the connector is.
See the picture, do you think it's hidden in the direction of arrow 1 or 2?
I am afraid to pull more on the wire and the carpet is fairly heavy to pull out further.
The car does have code 550 so it is factory installed hitch and wiring means it should have the break controller connection up front.
Reading other threads I believe it's there, I just can't see where it's hidden :-)
Thanks,
Robert

I had my mechanic pull it out. It was in the direction of arrow # 1.
The carpet is very heavy and you need to pull it back far enough (The foot rest get's in the way of pulling more).
Because it's a square connector it get's stuck below carpet and it was very hard to pull out, he was afraid of breaking wire.
At least now I have cable ready once I get the adapter to connect the break controller.

My break controller install done. As shown in the above picture I had mechanic fish out the factory connector for me.
I did purchase Tekonsha 3066-P wiring adapter/harness. Here's the link
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M82QKWX/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M82QKWX/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This connector connects to factory connector (Green) and other end connectors to P3.
I chose to install the controller right of the steering wheel because on the left side there is an air-bag.
Installing the little bracket was pain because I didn't have enough room on the right side of the connector.
At least my power supply issue is solved and now I just have to adjust the controller when I connect to the trailer.

Easy access and view.

I can tuck wiring more if I have to...

I forgot to add the picture of factory wiring before I connected the controller.

Green connector is factory wire.

As in the link above, I put my P3 on the left and used the screw shown by the the hood release for one of the mount screws. I used a nylon washer to fill in the recess making a flush surface for the bracket. I felt the area behind the screw and new there was nothing behind the area to add a screw hole for the second bracket attach screw. My connector was close to the #1 spot just to the left of the gas pedal. It looks like it comes down to how it was stuffed in but is accessible without doing anything more than pulling the carpet down as needed to grab it. My connector going to the pigtail harness is normally tucked up behind the trim/carpeting.
My '16 GLE 350 did not have the connector in the rear of the car connected originally and which is the connection between the green connector under the dash and the 7-pin connector. My dealer troubleshot this since I couldn't use the factory hitch as intended and saw my location for the brake controller. I can conclude that the mount location is okay then. The left side is in the link photo as well and if the right doesn't interfere with the gas pedal then it would appear to be a suitable location as well.
