Deep Boot Tray vs Regular Cargo Mat

I was just wondering if anyone had the deep boot tray and could say if they liked it more than a standard cargo area cover and why? If you have it, does it cover the cut out on the left side of the cargo area or make it hard to reach in some way? Can you post some pictures of showing it's fitment around the back cargo area? I've been debating the MB standard cargo cover, deep boot, and something along a weathertech one where you can fold down a lining to protect your bumper when loading. Anyone with input on any of those please chime in.

I have a deep tray and like it. It doesn't cover the left well/compartment. I will post pics this weekend.

I use a blanket over the rear bumper when loading a bike. The Mercedes rear bumper fold-down protector would be a good item to have.

I have the regular tray. I was going to get the deep tray but I figure if I want to fold my rear seat for more cargo. It was best to get the regular tray instead.

WeatherTech cargo floor cover and M-B accordian-style bumper cover

This is the setup that I use in my '17 GLE350.

Nearly identical to what I have, except I don't have the bumper protector, which is a great idea.

One thing to note on the deep tray, is the raised edge gets flattened when large items (boxes, etc.) are loaded. Not a problem, just something for awareness. It also makes sliding large items in and out require a little more effort. Not a deal breaker for me.

The raised edge is nice to prevent round items from rolling off the tailgate, and also acts as a water trap for dripping water, melting snow, etc.

Those raised edges are quite flexible. They easily distort to allow bulky things to slide over them, and then spring back immediately. To answer the OP's question, the WeatherTech tray does not cover the left side cubby hole, so you can access the stuff stored there without lifting the tray out of the way. I only wish I had gotten this tray and the front & rear floor covers in dark brown to match the carpets rather than this tan, but these were included in the purchase.
