GLE 350 - Radar Sensor Dirty

Hello,

I just got a GLE 350 - 2016 Model. When the car arrived in Nigeria,the front star emblem was missing probably due to the towing/salvage effort from the Burnt Hoegh Xiamen vessel in Jacksonville back in June. Once the star assembly is not installed, the distronics cruise control does not work. It pops up a message saying " Radar Sensor Dirty". But once the star emblem is removed, the distronics works.
Please note, I purchased a Mercedes-Benz OEM Distronic Grille Emblem Star Badge W253 C190 W166 C292 New with part no A0008880111 from ebay

My VIN is 4JGDA5HBXGA768926

Please what could cause this issue? Should there be a sort of transmitter on the star emblem?

Make sure to get a genuine MB part. The ebay one may be a cheap copy and is causing interference with the radar based distronic system.

I have gone to check the one I purchased from ebay and realized the part no is not stamped on the body of the star emblem. It is only stamped on the carton.
Is possible it may fake product that was bought expensive.

2016 GLE 350 4-Matic

Hi Imexxs,
i am one of the few people who have distronic on their GLE... I took a picture of mine for you to look at and compare. If you look closely, you will see that my silver ring that goes around has a slight ridge in the center.. very subtle but there...yours looks rounded and no ridge. I believe yours

is a fake- sorry...

i can't tell from the pic, but if it is illuminated it will not work with the radar. specifically excluded in factory options. god luck, ron

generally, if you have distronic, the star is flat, not 3 dimensional... it appears 3D from a distance...
this is how mine is on my 2017 GLE and also on my Volvo with the same technology...
