Pls need help! Configuration Issues
compliments of the season. I am a new member from Kano, Nigeria. I’ve had my 2018 GLE 350 4Matic for a few months now. It arrived to my home with issues that started when it arrived Lagos port with flat battery. I was told that after replacing the battery, the ignition refused to come up. They fiddled into the SAM box, made some direct connections to the ignition box and started the car. The car arrived to me completely black. Even the display screen and entertainment system weren’t working. I’ve been able to restore a lot but still struggling with one or two major issues. I am stuck
1. My break lights are permanently on. This is affecting most of the drive assist function as I believe the car always sees the breaks engaged. The car even starts through push start button without pressing the breaks. We’ve tried replacing the break light switch, SAM and ABS, all to no avail. Amongst drive assist functions lost are it does not beak to obstacles in front of it. I can provide more information and diagnostic if required. I have an ODB2 scanner I use and my mechanics have updated xentry software.
2. Another issue I am struggling with is I have lost visibility of my 360 degree camera. Ever since I restored the car computer after it arrived, I had a ‘front camera missing calibration’ but all my cameras are working fine, including the 360 view. Recently, I requested we calibrate the front camera with my mechanic. It was supposed to be a few minutes drive dynamic calibration. The progress bar keeps returning to zero after reaching about 30-40%. We then decided to select all the 4 cameras at once. The 3 other cameras (2 x side view + rear) recalibrated but the front still not. Unfortunately, I now have ‘camera not calibrated’ screen. I bought the car with an after market AMG grille, but as I mentioned earlier, the cameras worked fine before I decided to fiddle with the sleeping dog
Please I am seeking for support from experienced members.
thank you and merry Christmas
Since you have no warranty- I believe you now have a very, very expensive problem on your hands. I would try to find a good independent mechanic, but it will be VERY expensive to fix all of these problems... you probably have some broken or frayed wires in hidden places and you probably have some components that also will need replacing but won’t be evident without a lot of testing.
Can you go to the selling dealer and ask for help? Is there a Mercedes dealer near you?
Is there any way to find out exactly what was replaced in the accident? This may help you determine what was affected in the accident.
Good luck.
