What WDH fits the 2017 GLE 350 4Matic??
Hello!
I read through one post I could find discussing WDH for towing campers, travel trailers etc.I have the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller all set.
Can anyone please tell me what works for the 2017 GLE350 4Matic towing 30 ft 5,896 lbs
I need a weight distribution hitch and anti sway bar. The camping world dealership sold me one and it doesn't seem to fit and the refuse to install it due to liability as they are not family with MB.

Most importantly, you MUST load the trailer so a MINIMUM of 10% is on the tongue, or you are inviting terminal sway. 10% is 760#, and 12% is better - 912#. That exceeds the hitch capacity.
But that hitch weight (say 800#) PLUS the WDH itself (@90 - 120#) will count against the payload, which is posted on the drivers door post. The payload is likely to be @1,100#, so there is no spare capacity for you, your family or even two pairs of socks. (Ignore the Coleman stated hitch weight - it will depend on how you load your trailer.)
IMO that trailer is just too heavy for a GLE. It also only has single axles.
I recommend a lighter weight trailer, one that has dual axles and a 6,000# gross weight. Which would mean a dry weight of @4,000#.
We pull a 27' Lance 2285, dry weight 4,200# with gross weight 6,000#. The car does great, but we're at 720# tongue weight and about 200# shy of gross axle weights. I wouldn't want to pull much more.
Unfortunately a lighter weight trailer, with the space you seem to be looking for, is a lot more expensive to build, and will cost significantly more than that Coleman.
Regarding a WDH, we use an EaZ-Lift with friction sway bars. IMO loading and setup are more important than "which hitch."
And BTW half ton pickups have the same payload limitations.

If the WDH has a 2” drawbar or “shank”, it fits. The vehicle receiver does not know what’s connected to it, as long as it is square and 2”.
