B5 service question

Hi,
I know that B5 service includes (oil change, cabin air filter, break flush etc.).
I purchased my GLE350 CPO last year (June 2020).
Dealer had done a lot of work (Complete front/rear break rotor/pads, break flush etc.) on March 2020 at 29,300 miles.

I have B5 service reminder at 37,000 miles (I added 7700 miles, no driving in winter, mostly towed trailer last summer).

I am wondering if I need to do break fluid flush at this time since it was done ONLY 8K miles ago...

May be I want it done since I tow the trailer...

I can do oil and cabin filter myself.
How often is B5 service? (10K miles, 12 months OR 20K/24months)

I don't mind dealer do it since car is under CPO warrantee till February 2022.

Just wanted to understand my options.

Thanks

a brake fluid flush is good piece of mind if you tow regularly..it's only about $150 to $200 bucks...

that being said, the reason you change brake fluid is accumulation of moisture in the fluid...8 months IMO doesn't warrant fluid change unless you've opened the brake system to humid atmosphere, like topping off fluid if it leaks...

Brake fluid flush not needed if done 8k miles and one year ago. Brake fluid flush is time-based, not mileage. The recommended change interval is 2 years. You have another year until you need to change it.

I have towed boats, RVs and other things for 30 years, and have never changed brake fluid, except on my GLE, and only then because the manufacturer specifies it.

There is no harm in you (or the shop) doing it. Be aware that it not required for you at this point because it was done less than 24 months ago.

I admit I'm bad at maths, but how can a GLE (the oldest being a 2016 model year) already be asking for B5 service at only 37,000 miles? I might believe it at 137,000 miles, but assuming the OP's GLE was put in service in 2015, wouldn't the service schedule look like this?
  • 2015 A1
  • 2016 B1
  • 2017 A2
  • 2018 B2
  • 2019 A3
  • 2020 B3
  • 2021 A4
Or am I counting up incorrectly? (Does it go A1, B2, A3, B4, A6? Still no "B5" using that method though)

Read the first attachment in this thread on the ASYST system. It's for W204 but gives you an idea of the logic: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ce-thread.html

Thanks for clarifying. I also feel break fluid flush not required.
Since they did major work, I think my reminder is now OFF by 12K/1 year mark :-)

That leaves only oil change, looks like even cabin filter was done last year (see the attached work order).
These guys did a great job on the car before selling me (Well over $5K in major service).
There should be a way to adjust reminders to reflect this so my next major service should be at 50K miles or 24 months after last one?

I will actually call the MB where I bought the car and talk with service dept. to see what needs to be done.
Honestly I don't mind doing oil change myself as car has been flawless and CPO warrantee will be over 2022 Feb.

That's a great thread, with valuable information for DIY (I love working on my own cars).
Wish there was one for GLE350 platform w166.

Good points- my dealer skipped the mileage brake fluid change telling me to just do it when the brakes are done that were coming due making the time interval the schedule more important.
