I just purchased a new GLE350 and it will not receive Text messages. It is paired with the Info System and I can call, receive calls and Navigate with no problems. Buy I can not do anything with messages. My MBX dealer tried and the screen says I must authorize the settings on my iPhone X to receive messages. I then called Apple and we only changed the "Notifications" in settings to all 3 notifications. The "Message" setting are all correct according to Apple.
I traded in my 2017 E300 texts were fine with the settings on my iPhone. Now everyone is pointing fingers at who has the problem. Apple>Mercedes>Apple etc,etc.
Can anyone solve this problem?

You need to go to your Bluetooth connection on your iPhone and enable notifications. Tap on the circled i next to the Bluetooth connection for your car and turn on "Show Notifications". This is off by default. Apple support should have pointed you there. Also make sure it correctly recognized the device type as Car Stereo, otherwise change it manually.

Can you actually hear the notification sound thru the MBUX system?

I can see the notification but can’t hear it, nor find the volume setting for it if it even exists.

 

No, if I remember correctly, there's no notification sound with MBUX. There is with COMAND, but I guess since the notification icon is always visible in MBUX they didn't think it was necessary to grab the driver's immediate attention.

 

Yes my previous car was with Command and that’s what I recall.
I hope it’s implemented in a future software update, it’s a bit annoying otherwise and backward thinking on their part…..
