The top photo features the aux battery. Did you take that photo of your vehicle? This is discussed extensively on this site, and WIS instructions are posted on this site. What did you find using the search feature?

I can't recall where, but I was certain I made a note that without airmatic suspension, it also has been located under the front passenger seat with the main battery.

Absolutely not. Never seen anything remotely pointing to it. Only the main battery under front passenger seat. Aux battery only at rear below right tail light or under second row left seat.

Thanks. I updated post #4. All W166 GLEs have it under rear left seat. All W166 MLs - under right tail light.

If you open the driver's door, there are several stickers on the door frame. Look for the one like this:

Scan the QR code, and you will be taken to a Rescue card for your vehicle. This will display where many critical systems are, including where the batteries are for your specific vehicle.

For example for my 2017 W166, this is the card I get:

W166.1 Rescue Card

Thanks. It seems to be non-VIN specific which is even better. Most importantly it confirms that W166 MLs have aux battery in the rear under the right tail lamp, while W166 GLEs have aux battery under the left rear seat.

Folks, please use the search function. This has been posted multiple times and the WIS instructions are on this site somewhere.
