2016 GLE 350D

Ionization Feature

Anyone have Ionization enabled on their GLE? I work at a dealership and we recently got a 2016 GLE 350D just like the one I have. Going through the menu options I stumble across this feature. Never heard of it.
Google searches don't tell me much, mostly about the Mercedes air balance climate control, which this model does not have ( No place to put the scent bottle )

Just curious if anyone on the board has this on theirs and what it does over those vehicle without it.

We have it activated. Don't know if it makes a difference ir if it needs servicing... it's not the air freshener system like the S Class.

I have this on my 16 GLE400. I think I have mine turned on.

Page 138-139 in your owner manual

Is used to purify the air in the vehicle interior and attain an improved interior climate.
Ionization can only be operated when the automatic climate control is switched on. The side air vent on the driver side must be open.

Another curious 2016 feature. I haven't seen this in COMAND on my 2017. Is ionization standard on all ML-badged W166?

it's on my COMAND screen. Perhaps you need it as an option for it to show up. Shows up under vehicle settings
