2018 GLE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT
The windshield on my 2018 GLE developed a crack about 6" long. I have Driver Assistant Package, Distronic, Steering Pilot, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane keeping Assist, Speed Limit Assist.
QUESTION: What are member recommendations for windshield replacement, ie, dealer, 3rd party, etc.
I have never had to replace a M-B windshield before.
All Comments welcome.

Make sure you know what your insurance deductible is. I just had to have the windshield replace on my 2021 BMW X3 that has all the bells and whistles. They have to replace the windshield first and then program the safety systems to make all the warning systems work. I had safelight do it, ( USAA insurance). It cost over 1,000 dollars which include the calibration of the safety system. Unfortunately , I had a 500 deductible on my collision insurance. I have since change to 100 deductible.

I too had the windshield replaced by Safelight through USAA insurance. The cost was $1071.00 and I had a $500.00 deductible.
The dealer wanted $1700.00 and it would take 3 weeks to get a new windshield from Germany.
Safelight obtained the windshield within 3 days and I waited about 2 hours while they replaced the windshield and recalibrated all the bells and whistles.
The windshield carries a lifetime guarantee so all considered I went with Safelight.
I understand the reason for using M-B windshield but I doubt if it will effect the value of the car that much.
All comments are appreciated.

OEM and insist on it. Your insurance company (if one is involved) will try to flim flam you into aftermarket/third party. Say no to this.
I had a windshield replaced and the local dealer does not do this work. A third party installer put in a new MB windshield and they brought it to the MB dealer for camera calibration. It’s a joke of a process.
Factory windshields are paper thin from car company penny pinching, and dealers and insurance companies are backing away from the mess created by the car companies.

They replaced my windshield a year ago, there is a bubble at the rain sensor...
Make sure to check all the sensors in front after they change it.
And you should definitely go OEM.

Really curious about that.
How does the sensors look in front?
I can take a picture of mine whenever I get my car back.
I have a small bubble.

I had a windshiled replaced on my Volvo with the smart windshield tech stuff. It cost over $900 just to calibrate and aim all the sensors, radar, cameras lasers, etc.
