I just bought a 2016 Mercedes GLE from Seattle area. I flew in from the Quad Cities and then drove her back 2k miles back through the Washington and Montana mountains, Montana straight stretched i90, through the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore. The longest trip I’ve ever been in. Im stunned how powerful this 4 cylinder diesel feels and is.
It is loaded with options except distronic, and ambient lighting.
I’ve been reading about distronic that if you have assyst than its doable to retrofit distronic.
As for the ambient lighting, I’m only finding that if you have option 876 then you can upgrade from 3 led colors to 12 colors. However, I cant find if I dont have option 876, whether I can get it installed or not?
I need a help understanding whats doable and parts/kits list would be great!
I dont want Chinese junk only oem. Only if I can get those options, it will be the most complete vehicle I’ve ever owned. Here is a pic.

Have you driven a vehicle with Distronic? It could be useful for long distance driving... we have it in our GLE 43 but I don't think it's worth the cost to install after the fact. Especially on an older, early model GLE. ,

Yes I have. 4 of them. My cousins have 2022 GLSs and a 2022 S Class.
Also, I had adaptive cruise in my audi A8L. I do drive about 35k miles a year so Id really like to have it.
I'm sure it can be retrofitted for the ambient lighting. I do see kits out there. The issue you may have is the SCN coding. Check with Mercedes.
I was looking to upgrade my running boards to the lighting one (puddle lights). Mercedes said they can do it but it was over a $1k (2-3 years ago). Once I looked into it deeper it was allot of drilling and wiring with relays and coding. I did not go with it since I already have the running board mounted on my GLE.

About after 8 months since installation, ambient lighting still working perfect. It took me 3 days to do the install myself but it was well worth it. I had to take every single door panel out and into pieces, the whole dash trim, command, screen, and door panel canbus electrical connector apart and plug in the wires in the corresponding empty pins.
Still looking at options on doing the distronic but I cant seem to find the correct parts.
