Sync Climate Control
Hi All,
Got myself a 2016 GLE 350 last week which Im loving so far. I moved from the UK to the US a few years ago where I had a new A-Class Sedan 350e which was great for London living with the hybrid battery. Unsuprisingly, that model isnt avaliable in the US.
This forums been really helpful for some questions I've had. I've got the fun task of speaking to my local dealer in NW Arkansas about trying to get Andriod Auto added to my car, which from what I've read is a toss of a coin as to if they will help or not.
One thing I cant find though, is how to sync the climate control. Mine doesnt have the "Zone" button but has the "MAX A/C" button instead. Im getting the impression that there simply isnt a way to sync this (which kind of blows my mind to be honest). Just wanted to confirm this so I can give up on this task.

If you dont have a 2 zone climate control then your climate control is only 1 zone and does not need any sync button.

The issue I have is that my wife bungs down the AC when shes in the car in the passanger seat. When shes not in the car, it means the AC is blowing out on her side for no reason. I fix this by adjusting it back up, but its not exactly what Im after. All other cars I've had that have a two dual zone front climate have a "Sync" button to bring the passanger side in line with the drivers side. So when I adjust the drivers side, it also changes the passanger and makes it 1 zone. Literally, every car.

When you say two zone climate, Im assuming you mean driver and passanger (not front and rear). In which case I do. This is what my climate control looks like.

Took me about 1 summer, but she learned to trust MB system to adjust the temperature automatically.
I also trained her to drive with straight elbows, meaning we don't need to move the seat each time we change driver.

Maybe this is not the best forum for dealing with this problem, but my wife was doing that entering driver seat when the car was hot.

My only saving grace is that she doesnt have a driving license so cant drive it.

W166 came out in 2012, before W222. So the highest gizmo MB model at the time was W221, which to my knowledge did not have SYNC.

so you mean you always have 2 temperatures coming out of the vents EVERY TIME and you need to adjust the other one all the time if you want it to be the same? That seems backward though. On the older cars to do such a thing was a luxury but it seems MB went backwards and gave what is desired and took out what is basic. Then someone in the company said "let us add this so called SYNC/ZONE feature and everyone will go WOW". I get your problem here as I have the same problem with the wife. My wife thinks it is best to manually push the fan button and not use the AUTO function. I keep on telling her the germans are waaaay smarter than you so push the goddam button.

Yep, they went EL CHEAPO with the W166 climate control, by not including a synchronizing function.
2007: The W221 had it (it was called "Mono" and was buried in the COMAND settings so practically nobody knew about it). Also buried in sub menus in the W222...
2010: The W212 had it...it was called "Zone" with a dedicated button, so you didn't have to dive into sub menus every time your wife messed up her side.
2012: The W166 didn't get it
2017: The W213 had it, kept the dedicated button, and renamed "Zone" to "Sync."
2020: The W167 got it! ("Sync") and with a dedicated button!
