Comand Carplay/Andriod Auto Activation?
Not the tool.will do the job, if you buy a cheap or an expensive non-sense tool like C6 ( as the Chinese C6 is only a cheap VCX with a Bosch case) you will be very happy if you will first learn how things works
I have the same HW# as the user above (166 901 14 03), but the older software. Would you recommend the same software set they have or a newer set?
not sure how universal the SW is for a specific HW#... vehicle info below)
Vehicle Info:
VIN: 4JGDA5GB8GA636183
HU5S1 HW Part#:
166 901 14 03
(Current) SW #s:
212 902 49 11
166 902 36 07
166 902 83 07
Thanks!

Any idea if I risk bricking the headunit by doing a hard reset on the radio after updating the firmware and reapplying the coding varients, with most functions working on it?
I read online it could brick if the software doesn't work perfectly before a hard reset, so I just wanted to check if a hard reset would stop the bootloader from being able to reflash from dts if the firmware couldn't boot.
Reason I'm asking is I tried out that software trio that I posted above and, even after reapplying the original coding varients, the volume control +radio power button +backup cam didn't work. After downgrading to the original firmware, I had the same issue until I hard reset by holding the radio power button down until it restarted twice (once didn't do anything), which fixed all the issues I had.

Regarding " reapplying the coding variants", this is not advisable if you intend to load saved codings over the new SW.
Every SW variants has it's own Coding Variants, so you can't add old codings over the new SW without risks.
But...you can save the original Variant Codings into a human readable format like .html. This way you can read and reapply each codes in plain text, as there are only a few.
