Help with bumper skid plate cover

Help with bumper skid plate cover
Hi all, bought this replacement part for the front bumper skid plate cover. However in trying to fit it on, the tabs on the bumper don't want to budge and no way way to lift the replacement part tabs up less than 1mm to slide in. Has anybody done this? Can't find any instructions or videos of this, wondering if I'll have to remove the splash shield to get my hands behind it. Thanks!
