2017 GLE43 AMG (non-coupe) in the U.S?

In another post on the forum, https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...-canadian.html a Canadian member has ordered a GLE43 AMG. When I look through the 2017 GLE DOG (revision date 4/12/16), there is no mention of any change to the current GLE line up in the U.S. Naturally, the disclaimer on the DOG always says that it's the most current information available.

Does anyone have information on 1) whether a 2017 GLE43 will replace the GLE400 in the U.S? 2) If a GLE 43 AMG is in fact going to be available, what engine will it have in it?

As mentioned in the forum and elsewhere, there seems to be confirmation that the GLE450 Coupe will become a GLE43 AMG but with the same current engine in it. With the announcement of the C Class, E Class and GLC variants of the 43 AMG model, it seems inevitable that the GLE will also get a similar version. Since the announced 43 models have a 9G transmission, perhaps Mercedes is trying to get rid of the remaining 7G engines in the U.S. through the 17 GLE model year?

I wish they would get their model strategy in better order so that we can make decisions easier. I don't need a 63 SUV so the mid line SUV would be perfect but do I just get a '16 (order slots still open until July) or sit tight for '17?

Thanks!

The MY16 GLE450 (SUV and coupe) already has the 9G.

In the case of the GLEs, its just a name change to re-align all the AMG Sport models.

In the U.S. only the Coupe has the 9 speed transmission and I've never seen the SUV GLE or previous M class with a 9 speed.

The C, E and GLC43 models have a new twin turbo V-6. The E43 seems to have 396 hp while the C43 and GLC43 seem to have 362 hp.

Perhaps I didn't ask my question well enough. Will there be a GLE43 AMG (with engine similar to C, E or GLC43) that replaces the GLE 400 in the U.S for 2017?

Thanks!

A gaggle of MB's
To be helpful - I have tried to follow the thread - in the US the GLE43 is the coupe - the 2017 GLE400M is the SUV without AMG engine treatment.

Yes - both the GLE43 coupe and GLE400 in the US active curve is a available build-option - the reason I say "build-option" - Active Curve is one of those option dealer's do not normally add/order for inventory units.

Hope this helps .. keep the beat !

Fabbrisd1 thanks, I contact my dealer here in Vancouver today. The ACS is not an option for GLE43 SUV here canadian side only apply to the coupe version. Was wondering how can they leave it out since it's so essential to handling.
