2018 GLE63 S Brake Pad Recommendation?

Hey Guys,
Got 14k miles and need new rear brake pads. OEM installed looks like $500. Does anyone recommend aftermarket brakes as opposed to OEM? I'd love to minimize the brake dust if I could but I don't want to compromise quality. Thanks in advance!

I’d also be interested in after market pads that might give off less brake dust. Any suggestions for the GLE63s Coupe?

Wow, 14K miles and need new pads. Is that what I'm to expect with my 2019 GLE63s AMG Coupe with 2,500 miles on it? My car took a 1,000 mile trip from Arizona to California and I noticed a lot of brake dust as well. Given the 4-matic all wheel drive uses brakes to correct I thought this may be a constant burden on the brakes. I disabled the active lane correction feature and have notice much less brake dust. Hopefully this will save on brakes as well. I also like to butt-dyno the car a lot (aggressive acceleration) I disable the traction control to only inclimate weather. Much better hole shots.

I replaced all four pads and rotors from fcpeuro. Drive the exact same and there is no difference in braking.

What?!! Are you kidding me?! This information is AMAZING! I never would have attempted my own brake job without this and I do the brakes on everything I own! Thank you so much!

Thanks for this post E55 KEV. The youtube video post within (
) provides great info on changing brakes on the GLE63s AMG. The shop manual sight the youtuber provides stops at 2017 GL class cars. Do you know where I can find one for a 2019 GLE63s AMG Coupe that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
Thanks,

Replaced my rear pads today,,, 27400 kms (16,600 miles) and they were 95%.

I opted for these from Rock Auto Bendix CFC1639...cost me about $45 CDN all in
These did not come with the wear sensor which btw is only located on the passenger side. Luckily my pads were worn almost into the indicator but I could still re-use it..there is a small hole in the top of the pad that the indicator fits into.

All went well. I had never done and it took about 1.5 hours...I could do now in an hour or less..
Initiating brake service with steering wheel/dash menu is simple..I used a clamp to force the piston back into the caliper..also simple

I also gave the calipers a good cleaning.

We'll see how these pad perform
-dust
-noise
-performance
-durability

Dealer wanted $600 CDN to replace rears only and $800 for supply only f/r pads.

Rotors are in good shape and when I need front pads I'll do a complete f/r rotor/pad from fcpeuro

Nice work. How did you lift the vehicle? Interested in what adapter, if any, was used to fit into the jacking point.

Floor jack...jack stands

You can buy the adapter cheap on Ebay and Amazon. You don't need it though. Use a small 2x4 between the jack and the pad. Also with most Mercedes you can jack at the rear diff or the center pad under the engine.

I just did one corner at a time and jacked directly under the suspension component so the wheel raised immediately..then I put a stand under for safety...so far no squeaks..squeals...no brake noise AT ALL

Powerstop Z16

I used these for my ML63 and am about to install front and rear on my GLE. Great price, stopping power and very little dust. Calipers stay bright red for many washes.

Wow, amazing prices - only 1/4 of the original MB pads. Original MB pads have fantastic stopping power, even when "cold" - initial bite is tremendous. Yes brake dust is the only 'issue". How are these ceramic pads' braking "power" as compared to the originals and especially the initial bite when brakes are "cold"? TIA.

Cheaper at Rock Auto:

Front $31.79 - https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...53930&jsn=3106

Rear $27.79 - https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...53930&jsn=3105

Rock Auto have pads listed under 4 categories - 1) Daily Driver, 2) Premium, 3) Economy and 4) Performance. The above Power Stop Z16 line is considered Economy.

I think GLE/ML 63s are anything, but "economy" and I think need pads to stop it (dust or not, the first job for me is stopping). I, like the next guy, hate to over pay (for the identical item), but usually if "generic" replacement is to good (cheap/inexpensive) to be true, it usually is. I'm OK putting Textar (identical to branded MB except for absence of the logo) at the rear for 2/3 of the price (as compared to the identical item with the logo), but this staff... I do not know. Obviously one never knows how they "perform" until one tries them on, but since my life depends on it I do not want to chance it.

Bro, can you also send links for brake sensor? I appreciate that.

I was wondering the same (brake pad recommendation)

Brake pads are typically one of my first mods because OEM performance pads dust like crazy in anything I've owned. I typically get ceramic pads for the street because sports cars have a ton of braking power. Even on ceramic pads, they can lock up the wheels at fairly high speeds. However, the GLE is pretty heavy.

This time around, for my street car, I went with the Carbotech 1521. It has pretty darn good bite for a street pad and while it does make SOME dust, it's pretty low. Ceramic on the other hand makes virtually zero dust. I use these on the Viper because, for some reason, it has pretty undersized brakes for what it is and a lot of grip (aero + tires). They also don't make it for the GLE63, but I'm willing to bet if I called Carbotech, they'd make me a set. It's not that big of a deal.

I'd be curious to hear if ceramics have enough braking power or if I need to step up to 1521.

Do you have a source or link for the Brembo NAO Ceramic pads for the W166 GLE 63 s and a recommendation for rotors? Thanks for the help!
