GLE Coupe Adventures | 4 | Preparing for the Undiscovered Colorado Snow Country 2019
I am preparing for our first family Christmas Road Trip as my children cannot remember ever having seen actual soft fluffy snow and that it would be fun to actually have a white Christmas for a change. Our plan is to drive from Austin, Texas to Colorado Springs, Colorado, which will take us 12-13 driving hours to get there. Although we typically have enough space, now that we are talking about extreme cold temperatures, we need more space for all the cold weather clothes.
Expected Pros of having a Roof Carrier System:
All the Extra Space
Expected Cons:
Wind Noise and limited speed of 80 MPH (130 KPH)
For the Parts I purchased:
The beauty of buying Mercedes Genuine Parts is that they fit perfectly and use materials that are safe and sturdy, while having been tested by Mercedes. So every part of the installation happened as expected.
Basic Carrier Bars, Alustyle Quickfix: 166-890-15-93
Carrier Bars Pocket: 000-890-01-11-64
Mercedes-Benz Roof Box, 450: 000-840-03-00
Basic Carrier Bars, Alustyle Quickfix:
Open the End Caps to tighten each side to the vehicle.
The Carrier when it's off the car looks extremely big, and I was worried that it was too large for the vehicle.
As you can see, it fits two large suitcases and still room in front for more storage.
