CarPlay doesn’t wotk

CarPlay doesn’t wotk
Hi. A friend just bought a new 2021 GLE G63s. He is trying to make wired CarPlay work and it doesn’t. We own a GLS450 with the same MBUX system and it worked the first time we tried.
in the licenses section it says it has unlimited license for wired CarPlay. We took the exact same USB-C to lightning cable we use in our GLS along with the same phone and it still didn’t work. I tried “rebooting” MBUX but all I could see is holding down the mute button until it asked to turn off the system. Tried that, didn’t work either.
Needkess to say he’s a little ticked that a $130,000 car has to go right into the shop for something like this
any ideas we haven’t tried? Thanks

yep…. Thanks. Yeah we’ve tried all the combinations…. Our phone in his, his phone in ours, cable swapping…. Geese this is sounding like some kinky swingers club! 😳
