Production delays??

Called my dealer today. I’m now August. (I ordered 12/17/21). 4-matic related parts have delayed all GLE models, and the engine, the GLE53. Glad this isn’t a primary vehicle for us. He says mine will still be a 2022-but didn’t sound sure about that-said it could be a 2023.

Well they aren't ALL being delayed. Mine was scheduled for late April build, and as of last week I have the VIN and it shows up exactly as ordered on the mb.vin website. Possible that options you select may impact production date - although my car is loaded. Hard to figure...

Not sure it matters, my car is a Canadian spec car, some minor differences in things like bumper specs, color names, option packages and the way they are organized. Mine is a GLE53 Coupe, pretty much everything except massage seat package, Burmester Sound and running boards. I was able to intercept a dealer order in early March and reconfigure to what I wanted. When I look up the VIN it indicates delivery date of May 3 - not sure if that is same as build date.

2023 GLE 53
I have an order for the SUV placed in 12/21. Originally scheduled for April. Delayed to May, then July, now August. I also had the DA4 Intelligent Lighting dropped from the order. My SA tried to add it back but they are saying that the allocation for the option is full, which means they are out of parts for the option and it is not available. They will continue retrying until the production date. We'll see how that goes. I also heard coupes were not as delayed as the SUV style.

I have a GLE 63 Coupe that is scheduled to be built the third week of next month. I ordered every option except, ceramic brakes, running boards and track pace app. It took it all which I think is standard until it gets closer to the build date and then they'll most likely tell me what's not available. Only thing I will compromise on will be the seat color. Anything else and I'll cancel the order. Not going to spend that much money on top of a 12K ADM to settle. Not going to happen.

I have now been moved back to September as well. All of this is associated with not having supply of the 53 engine. When I e-mailed my dealer that my vehicle now surely is a 23-he said no that it will still be a 2022. Hard for me to figure if it is built in September.

I was told they haven't started taking 23 orders yet, that's why it will be 22. I think it will keep getting pushed back. We'll see if we even get it this year with all the delays.

With a September or later build, I'd sure insist on a 2023. Later on when it comes time to sell or in case of an insurance claim, a year's depreciation will mean $$$ in your pocket.

That's a very good point actually, I'll check with the dealership and see what they say. I know with Land Rover for example if you tried to order past 2-3 months they would tell you that you'd be getting a 2023 model.

Picking Up Tomorrow
Got the call earlier this week. Picking up my GLE53 Coupe tomorrow afternoon, won't be spending any time with it though as its going straight to the shop to have a satin wrap applied, should have it end of next week for keeps.

Sounds like some of you are scheduled to receive a 2023. Last I heard from my SA mine was going to be August and a 2022. I'm not sure If I want 22 or 23 since I have ordered the Lunar Blue metallic which apparently is being dropped for MY2023. With Brilliant Blue metallic not making a comeback, the already anaemic GLE color palette is now like winter in Scandinavia.

Just confirmed that mine is also being updated to a MY2023. I can't get Lunar Blue and looks like MSRP is also going to increase. Tentative date is Sep'23 and we all know how that is going to work. I'm going to place a custom order for the Audi SQ7 as a backup

Just heard from my dealer (SO CAL) that factory just notified them that the lines for the production on GLE’s have been pushed back due to unforeseen circumstances. My GLE53 build is now scheduled for Nov. Anyone else getting this kind of update?

If you don't have an approximate build date, then it sounds like your dealer doesn't have an allocation yet. Maybe they've put you on a waitlist of some sort?
