I believe production won’t start till next year. Not sure if it will be a short run since production is starting so late into the model year.

Interesting. Everything made usually has model years starting in the August frame yet MB, at least with the GL’s seems to off track. Only seems to “hurt” those buying and getting and “older” car sooner than the competitors. Strange.

Orders are now all 2023 and they are making 23’s now according to my dealer. They should be seeing them in a couple months.
More bad news - placing and order yesterday and no available, multi-contour message seats, warmth and comfort package, and no high end Burmester (unfathomable), So give MB $135k-$145k for a high profit high end vehicle and no high end features and then pepper the total BS dealer greed even as a long time and/or frequent customer.
It won’t be long before the trashed economy will leave these makers and dealers gasping for air and begging for buyers. History repeats itself…

It has gone beyond chip shortage, which seems to be coming under control. Now it's the major and minor suppliers to the manufacturers that are in trouble.
It's industry-wide. Ford has 45,000 vehicles stashed and waiting for sub assemblies etc.

My build is going to be done late this year/early next year, have every option on it except DC6 High End 3D - Word from SA is that this is tentative, may become available by build date and have the option of extending my build date later to see if becomes available which is not something I'm interested in.
If it's not available by early 2023 you really are looking at 2 options: Get a 2023 model w/ whatever is available or wait for 2024 refresh. Hoping 2024 refresh keeps same interior with minor tweaks like the spy shots showed (no big iPad in the center).
Either way this whole parts/option shortage is getting ridiculous and I don't see this problem w/ other car manufacturers you can get the full car built to spec w/ everything available.
