This has flashed a bunch of time at the Lower left of the driver screen to the left of where the light indicator is. I’ve looked through the manual and online and don’t see it. Like two pistons crossed with the number 4? Thanks.

It means that you are on Cylinder Deactivation, and only 4 cylinders are active.
Can you feel a difference in response or performance? Or is it seamless as claimed?

As stated above, that's the cylinder deactivation icon.

I have a funny story about that one. About 3 months after purchase, a 67 year old female customer of mine called me because she saw the icon thinking something was wrong. I explained to her what it was and what the car was doing. She told me that made sense because it was the first time she had driven the car outside of race mode.

I'm still waiting for my adoption paperwork to go through for the coolest woman I have met.

I kind of felt the same way about a woman who pulled into a fish market next to me, in an AMG R63, pipes ablaze.
Back when "63" meant 6.3 Liters. A sleeper car if ever there was one.

I obviously have not met the right women or been at the right place at the right time . Mikapen, as for feeling any difference, absolutely none. I first noticed it on highway on way back from DC where I picked up the car. It was my first trip with it and a bit heavy footed but cruising around 85mph on 95 and I noticed it blinking at times. I noticed it again yesterday when I was in the city but it only flashed a bit and I haven't seen it in a while. I didn't even know it had that function. I have to look it up. Can one shut it off? Whatever it was doing, all was seamless at the time.

I always wondered (curious) about this feature, does it cause uneven wear to the other cylinders or the cylinders get switched around often when this feature is enabled?

As others have said, the engine is running on 4 cylinders rather than 8. I quite like this feature as its perfectly seamless and does reduces fuel consumption when you are just cruising along. I've managed to cruise for extended periods with it on, you just have to find that perfect speed and maintain it, avoiding the temptation of jumping on the accelerator which is very difficult in this car! LOL
