2024 Gle53 coupe- power / mild hybrid boost questions

AMG Power/ Mild Hybrid Boost

2024 Gle53 coupe - 22” amg wheels
OEM stock everything, No filter on video
16k miles, CPO (purchased 4 weeks ago)

Every couple days I enjoy putting it in sport + after it’s warmed up and really pushing it. I love the feeling of taking off quick and feeling that initual pull/ push. I know it’s normal to have quicker accelerations and for it to vary depending on certain factors, but I feel like half the time I can’t feel the electric tourq at all/ you wouldn’t even know it was a baby AMG & really feel like my 2019 e300 on sport + takes off quicker and is more aggressive right off the throttle. On the other hand (the other 50 % of the time) it really makes me smile, you get that instant boost and it takes off like you would expect it to take off. I know this isn’t a 63s but the fact that this car does perform like I expect it would makes me question why half the time it doesn’t. Of course everything looks good and no lights are on. Is there any way to tell if something is wrong? I have watched the performance screen a few times when pushing it and all the HP & Torque #’s look like they are where they should be (to me at least).
BTW I turn the auto stop start off anytime I drive it, so this is not a factor.

Is there something I can do while driving to get the quickiest acceleration when I hit it. I feel like the quickest pull/ push I’ve felt is after taking off from a red light.. I took off very normal because there’s dip in the road half way through the light.. once I went through the dip and got through the red light, I hit it and the engine/ exhaust sound was fantastic, especially when it shifts and really takes off, the throttle response and the push/pull from the transmission was a true AMG experience. Why can’t I get that every time I decide to push it. I feel like at least 50-60% of the time I try, I don’t get that feeling which is very disappointing. Should I be pushing the accelerator down to the floor slower (taking a couple seconds to get to the floor) or when I’m ready to take off, immediately flooring the pedal down to the ground? & when I do get to the floor should I be pushing it down completely where i feel that click (I think it’s there to switch gears) or do I wait after flooring the pedal for a certain point then do the extra click, or is that step not necessary at all?

Sorry, I know a lot of you are probably rolling your eyes or laughing at my questions right now; if you’ve even made it this far without scrolling past my post. I’ve never been an enthusiast or driven a standard before so I am very new to all of this. Again THANK YOU for your POSITIVE feedback and sharing your experiences. I’m just trying to get the most enjoyment out of my new suv as I can. Not interested in using aftermarket parts that will void my CPO warranty in any way.

Thank you!

Many blessings!

2024 AMG GLE 53
Hey, welcome!

Wow, we're talking about performance in an AMG forum and not about how a cup holder holds or doesn't hold cups. Got me excited, let me go into some details.

The AMG GLE Mild Hybrid is just that—"mild," lol.

Many auto reviewers mentioned that it is there simply as a marketing term. Adding more random terms will make us, the buyers, feel special. (Yes, there was actual development and tech in this system, but it is very basic.) It is also to satisfy the emissions regulations, to say that us AMG owners and the MB brand "care" about the environment... because it is somewhere in there, a hybrid.

There was a thread started on here also, asking a very valid question: "Hey, we have a hybrid, can we park in the eco-designated parking spots at airports?" My response was sure, why not. But nobody in the world will look at a beefy SUV with AMG written all over it and agree that, oh gosh, look at what an eco-friendly vehicle the new GLE AMG is.

Now regarding your performance experience, I drive 95% in Sport+ and Manual transmission. So that's the sportiest, most aggressive setup we have. Yay! When I have a long road trip out of state, I will then cruise in Comfort mode, and that's barely ever.

From my observation, this AMG Mild Hybrid maybe adds 2%–5% of any changes in our performance versus if we did not have it. The times that I did feel the electric assist kick in is when I'm actually at a low-speed roll and then I floor it. So probably going no more than 15 mph in 1st gear and flooring it, you do get a noticeable thrust of torque. But it stops very quickly as well; it does not keep pulling at all.

From a stop, the car just moves. There's no drama or anything crazy with any electric trickery or additions. It is trying to move a 5,000 lbs squared box from 0 to whatever. It will never be Cybertruck fast or anything like it.

The part when your Mild Hybrid will shine is when you are driving in custom Individual Mode and change the engine to Reduced, and you are cruising at a steady speed. You will see the car go into coast sailing mode where the engine will shut off. This also is "mild" because it is very minimal and temporary. But from my opinion, that is what the Mild Hybrid actually helps with, if we cared about MPG.

Lastly, if you are concerned about inconsistency in your performance, get yourself a Dragy. It is a performance meter that is actually acknowledged by drag racers because you cannot cheat by going downhill or have your own car read out your performance numbers, like the AMG Track Pace we have built in, for example.
That way, since your car is stock, you should definitely check a few things:

1. Does your GLE perform to the estimated standards that MB claims in 0-60 mph or 1/4 mile times, for example? If yes, then clearly nothing at all to stress about, and you just see that accelerating again, 5,000 lbs at 5 seconds 0-60 is what it is.

2.You can go at it back to back or on different days to ensure that you get similar outcomes. This again will confirm for you how your perception may not be totally applicable. I know this may be true from driving actual fast cars, and sometimes when I test, I'm like, yes, that was so fast, but the data says otherwise and vice versa. I get disappointed at the end of a run, and my times are the best yet.

Share your thoughts when you can.

Two things.
First, the speed at which you depress the gas pedal tells the car what you're wanting to do. Throttle velocity is the key.

Second, the mild hybrid and the supercharger on a 53 are designed to fill in power in the first 1 1/2 seconds that it takes the turbocharger to spool up.
It's a spinoff of MB's F1 tech, not designed for fuel economy.

Step one: mild hybrid adds approximately 179 foot pounds instantly via ISG.
Step 2: the supercharger adds XX power within a half a second.
Step 3: ISG, supercharger and turbocharger are delivering full power.

Taken together, the car feels like it's normally aspirated with no turbo lag.

The ISG is only used for "fill," not continuous power. You can see it's effect in your instrument cluster, or set a separate display. The The instrument cluster display is at the lower right, and also shows regenerative braking - the green portion.

The quick throttle application also overrides settings such as comfort, so a stab of the the loud pedal is essentially switching to Sport+, where it lingers for a while.
