2014 ML-350 Instant start of an engine miss
FYI Recently MY 2014 ML 350 developed an engine miss. This happened instantly and never changed or subsidded. I took the vehicle to a couple places (non MB dealers) only to have it miss diagnosed and and repairs made and charged which did not correct the problem. Was told it was everything from bad injectors to a bad O2 sensor. After spending 3 K or worong fixes I took it to MB and it was found to have a broken valve spring on the number 5 cylinder. (22.00 part) also a few other parts were changed to make the bill much higher. As a side note my EX wife experienced the exact same problem with her 2015 ML 350 a few months later and it happened to the exact same #5 cylinder. While looking for a cure b efore the fix most of the forum post pointed to the injectors as the cause of similar problems. I think that the fact that the problem started instantly and never changed should have told me that it was not an injector issue. I hope this post helps someone else. This has been a wonderful suv and now has 250,000 miles.
