I picked up my new 26 AMG GLE 63S from a dealer in Bethesda Md. While driving home to Pa I noticed an icon light that came on and off several times during the drive.
It is located on the main drivers screen in the upper right corner right beside the lane control assist. It is an icon of 2 cylinder pistons in the shape of an X inside a light blue box along with the number 4. My initial thoughts were that if the mild hybrid was engaged
could the engine be running on 4 cylinders. Each time I saw the icon my speed was appx 55-60mph
I couldn't find anything in the manual and google was also stumped
Any thoughts
It indicates the cylinder deactivation feature (from 8 to 4). It is automatic and frequently engages when in steady state cruise in comfort mode on flat roads.
It is cylinder deactivation. When the conditions are right it will go from 8 cylinders to 4 to save fuel. Make sure you read up on "Glide Mode" and how it works as well. It's a blue sailboat icon on the bottom right.
