I owned a Land Rover Discovery II and I made the mistake of buying it after the lease ended. I spent $8k in repairs before I finally traded it in. I loved it when it worked and I thought if I just fixed this last thing it will be fine. But the problems never stop.
You can definately get a larger vehicle for the same price as a GLK, but the GLK is a lot of car for the money. It is very solid and you get the 350 engine, which a very well tested & good performing engine. Also, I bought the GLK for my wife, this is her 1st SUV, and she was uncomfortable driving a larger vehicle.
