Talking Owner Update - Day 2

Well I have been driven in MB before but I have to admit owning one is totally different experience and I am being spoiled to death by quality build and technology :-)

Things you should do:
1) Spend the 10 min to train the system to your voice, this improves the accuracy to around 90%.
2) Lean how to use all of the MMI wheel and steering wheel key pad buttons, the manuals are long winded but they do step you through it.
3) The voice command will do just about anything you want regardless of what mode the screen is in, for example, you can switch radio stations without interrupting the navigation.
4)If you have a Garage Door or Gate with rolling security codes you might want someone to help you out, its a two step learning method, and you will have to hit the transmit button on the motor unit but you do get 30secs to get back in the car and hit the mirror button to have it complete the learning. Once its setup, I noticed a 1/2 second delay from pressing the button to the actuation of the garage door, so hold down the button until you see movement.
5)The doors are heavy and when inside its requires a fair amount of force to close it.
6)Why does it come with two cigerette lighters? and 1 ash tray?? I would have liked a 115volt outlet up front instead.
7)The keyfob is an amazing tool. You can indeed close or open all the windows or open all the windows fully or open all just a bit, this includes the sun roof.
8)The insturment lighting is very clear and bright even during bright sunlight and there is a control wheel to turn it up and down, unfortunately the night time mode for the 7" display is not setup that way, there is a daytime, nightime and automatic mode, I find it bright at night, not disturbing but lets just say the driver next to and behind me can see what on the screen :-)
9)The Bixenon headlights will kill deer on contact, they are just extreemly bright, I used to flash my high beams at folks in my 05 CRV when I wanted their attention. If you do that with the GLKs Bixenon, I think its a form of assult :-), you will be blinding them. The self leveling system is interesting as well you somtimes see it move as you go over a bump its just woth every penny IMO
10)Loading music from a CD (includes mp3 and WMA) is slow and you cant play another track as it records, you can however use the radio and Nav.
11)The panoramic roof is excellent, I think in Canada they are tinted, having read the post on here about heat intrusion. In full sunlight with the shade open the light is good but I noticed when I opened up the roof the sun light was searing, the tint on them is excellent at negating the direct heat that seems to bother some on here.

The Bad, well not really bad just wish I could
1)The back glass on the rear hatch should have been an open and close setup.
2)My Tenorite Grey and Glass are dust magnets, thank gwad for those showroom dusters at Canadian Tire the do a great job but I fear I will need one every few months.

Just did my first fillup at half tank. 33.729 litres @ .971 cents/litre I will track the fuel economy after the next fillup. Welcome to Premium Gas

For those of you who will be picking up your GLK in the comming weeks and months. This is a new vehicle so be prepared to be stared at by just about everyone, cops included.

Leslie, glad to hear you are loving your GLK. Wanted to ask can you give more instructions on closing or opening all the windows and the sunroof with the key fob? What sequence needs to be pressed etc..

All the good news makes me wonder how I am gonna pass another 3 months... oh well in the end I bet it will be worth the wait....

Yeah 3 months is an eternity, thats why I gave up on the Keyless Go and took what they had with all the options I wanted and few more that at first I did not want but now love :-)

Well I was doing it all wrong at first, I was holding down both the lock and open button on the FOB but, you just have to point it at the door receiver and hold the open button to open the windows and sunroof. It did open all the windows about 3" at first but when I held it down again it lowered them completely.

Thanks Leslie, appreciate the quick feedback... Well the lease on the my car is coming up in July, and the wife really wants the Keyless Go. Hopefully everything will work out and be worth the wait...
