GLK 350
#28
Hi fellow Toronto GLK'rs. I am about to go negotiate a new black Obsidian GLK 350 and hoping to join the forum as a true Toronto GLK owner.
We are looking for one that will include:
Bi-Xenon Package
COMAND Package
Premium Package
Leather
Harman/Kardon
Media Interface
Rear View Camera
SIRIUS
TeleAid
I probably will lease. I wanted to ask, given you experiences, what do you think a fair price today (November) would be?

With those specs and with frieght and taxes you can budget at least $60K for sure.

do you know if MBC provides any type of corporate supplier discounts?
i know audi's is 7% off msrp + maintenance plan on top of any other customer retail incentives (and then some ...)

I like to go to MB downtown at Dundas and have found service to be much better down there. With the price of GLK, I figure its pretty hard to get a discount over $2K.

Add $2K freight, about $150 for a block heater and approx. $500 for misc. dealership fees.
Your total is now $58,540.
Now add about $40 for tire tax, $2,800 for gst and $4,700 for rst.
Baddabing... just over $66,000.
Highly doubtful you will get $6K off so that's how I said at least $60K.
Technically you should add back the total financing cost if you want to get the true picture... but $60K is already enough money so we don't have to go there!
You might get a deal... from what I have read it seems common to get a couple K off in the GTA. But under $55K all in with your build? Not a chance...

Ok so here it is... the msrp for your build is $55,890.

So if we say 58, perhaps a little less, and then some kind of discount - question is how many $k off $58 I guess.

Like I added to my last post, about $2K off is what others appear to be getting so getting under $55K might still be difficult.
If you drop the leather there's $2,500. And the Teleaid, another $1,000.
No blockheater??
Note that lease rates are typically higher than fianacing as well.

hi guys, have been eye-ing the glk for a few months now and have test driven one lately... ive also joined the forum to ask for your experiences on the GLK as i have a few questions. hope you can help me. here goes:
a) i test drove the glk from the MB Downtown dealership - we havent talked about prices as i didnt commit to buying one yet. however, ive spoken with a salesman already there --- if doesnt give me a good deal - (eg. 1k off or less based on your posts), and it seems like MB does things on a "corporate" basis, can i go to the oakville one and try to haggle more? who should i contact in the oakville one? (i currently live downtown and will be moving to oakville soon)
b) braking - when i test drove the GLK, the brake pedals were "spongy". the brake seems to grab slow and when i try to fully depress it on the other hand, it rapidly grabs it to the point that the glk stopped more abruptly -- is this just a "feel" thing? or at the brakes really spongy and tougher to "control"?
c) what has been your experiences so far on reliability?
many thanks

always talk to 2-3 different dealer when you purchase anything...even futureshop gives a price match+10% more on the differences. lay some commitment...and you should get a pretty decent deal.
braking...i feel okay with my GLK, but maybe I'm used to it...still remind me the first time i drove my uncles porsche...feels like I can't drive it at all...pad kicks in with a lag and suddenly grabs the disc real tight...but when you get used to it...it's nothing but fun...

thanks pipicy... based on this forum/trail, seems like dealerships in downtown TO are all "the same", am i right to conclude it? i will give the oakville one a shot next week (personally visit) ... on that note, i presume one needs to personally visit the dealerships to get a decent quote and to show one is serious about the purchase?
as well, i presume it's indeed the case and that i wasnt imagining things -- that the brakes seem "soft"/"spongy" at the start... thanks for the insights! i was worried that the brakes would hinder one from enjoying the car itself (eg. brakes soft therefore cannot accelerate too much etc)...
if any other forumer has insights on reliability, thanks in advance!

yes, they are selling very well, and they are very strong holding their price line...
but pm me so that I can give you some reference...there is one guy there who is the No.1 MB sales all across Canada...I am pretty sure if he wants to stand out for you talking to the manager, you will get a better deal.
Go in person!!! For sure...and tell them you are buying a new car...no matter where or who or which brand...
Of course some smaller dealer in suburban might give you a better deal simply because they need the business volume...i tried Victoria Star in hwy 7 and they actuall gave me a very good deal...I went to Toronto coz i knew the guy would give me a better one.

hi pipicyx
thanks for offering to help... yes appreciate if you could provide me a contact... i do like to point out though that i did visit the MB dealer in dundas st east and took a test drive and there was a salesperson by the name of mick/sean who helped me out... hope this doesnt ruin the help you are willing to provide...
i am more than willing to travel a bit to the burbs to find a good deal... i currently do not own a car that's why i ended up ttc'ing all the way down to MB dundas st east...
thanks
