Mirror Tilt in reverse

Hey,

Guys/Gals just got delivery this afternoon, have figured out mostly everything except the mirror tilt when you put it in reverse. I know there was a post, but taking the quick route, can someone please give me the instructions.

Thanks a million....

The right (passenger) mirror has to be selected.

I think I found a post with it:

While in park position and key in position 2.
1. push right (passenger) side mirror button
2. Adjust desired position to see curb or what not.
3. push M button
4. push one of the adjustment arrow.

If successful, the right side mirror shouldn't move and will now tilt if car is put in reverse.

Second method.
1. Put the car in R gear
2. Push right mirror button and adjust to desired position
3. Push M

Will try it tomorrow and let you konw how it goes....

You can tilt down mirror in R for Canadian model (I guess in all trims). Here is how, without using any M buttons:

- Set gear to R
- Enable the right side mirror button
- Set the mirror to the position you want
- Set gear to P or D
- Mirror will go back to normal position in a few sec

Now you have saved the mirror position in R. Shift gear to R again and it will tilt down and you will see the right side mirror button enabled

lol, Thanks NYC, I just haven't had time, been running around in business meetings. Best friend is getting married, so got back from work, changed and headed to his place... Got back at 1:00 am last night, and headed back to work this morning at 800.

This weekend, manual will be read...

I've tried all of the methods above with no success. Has anyone else got this to work?

Follow instructions on post 5 & 6. They worked for me. I have read it won't work for US cars

Oh, well that explains it since I have a US car. I don't understand why MB would delete this feature for cars shipped to the US. Seems silly to me. What am I missing?

if you have power folding mirrors...

then you have the mirror tilt-down feature. you know you have power folding mirrors if there's a mirror-fold button in between the left and right mirror adjustment buttons. if you don't have power folding mirrors, there will be an unmarked tab between said mirror adjustment select buttons.

if you do have power folding mirrors (verify by pressing the mirror fold button while parked and see what happens), then follow baby g's instructions on how to use it.

i use this feature once in a while, actually, but rarely.

early production glks were not given these features along with US glks it seems. if so, i believe this was done in the US to offer a lower price for the glk.

hey guys. i've got a base model canadian glk. i do have folding mirrors. whats the M button? if its for memory seats, i dont have it. i've tried the other method listed that doesnt require the m button but couldnt get it to work. am i missing something or is the tilting mirror feature only for non-base model cars only? mine is only equipped with bi-xenon and 20 inch. i received the car in april this year so its probably a jan or feb production car. please advise. thanks. idiots at dealer doesn't know what im talking about regarding the tilt.

I got mine in March this year so and it does the mirror tilt thingy. I did not notice at first but someone on here posted about it and its funny how you can miss that. I usually put my right hand over the passenger seat back and look behind me as I drive in reverse. It has taken me about 3 months to get used to using the rear view camera and side mirror in conjuntion with my old methodology

Good point you brought. I was confused in my first 2 weeks of driving, as whether I keep the 'look behind' reverse or use the rear view camera. I came up with: Use rear view camera to check the surroudning first, then look behind to reverse. So far worked well. I still don't trust the camera 100%, esp when rain / dust gets on it and sometime the stainless steel on top of the bump gives a huge glare.

+1 on the glare, and dust. It just makes it much more difficult see when its a beautiful sunny day, and the chrome just reflects.

I use the camera to check my surroundings, use it to see how far I can backup, usually since I reverse park into spots.
