Tire chains - Winter's coming
So, I've been looking for chains that are specified by their manufacturer to fit 235/50R19's, and I can't find any. One manufacturer, SCC, did the arithmetic and gave me a list of their products that "should" fit OK, although they haven't really tested the fit on the GLK.
I guess the point of this is that, when winter comes, it might not be easy to get decent fitting chains. The 2WD GLK's will be more seriously impacted, but even the 4Matics need to be "carrying".
When one of us finds a good value, well fitting set of chains, please spread the word.
I'm pretty sure there are chains available for GLK in Canada, so we should be able to get them too. But if you need chains you should get winter tires, and they should be able to tackle pretty much any snow conditions without chains. I've had FWD car to go through any snowstorms in northeast with Dunlop M3's, I think 4matic and winter tires will do fine without chains in pretty much anything.
Nevertheless, it does snow in the mountains and I would like to have some decent chains on hand in case the weather gets much worse than predicted.
Yes, I'm sure the need is much greater in Canada and probably the best solutions will come from there ...before this winter, I hope.
Well chains do exist for GLK, check the pic on the site, and I remember seeing them in Canadian catalog. I'm sure your dealer will have them, or can get them.
