Accessories Power Key Position

Anyone know if there are any issues with leaving the key in the accessories power position for extended periods (other than running the battery low)?

ie: It's considered safe re: the engine ignition system and such?

It used to be considered a not-to-do because older cars had points. Since most cars have electronic ignition systems now, it is no problem at all.

No worries there, nust curious though why would you need to do that?

Waiting at a ferry terminal, or, waiting for my daughter's lesson(s) to end.

Radio shuts off after a few minutes unless key is in "run" position, powering a laptop via the 12v ports, the 12v ports don't work unless the key is in the "run" position.

Sitting there for 45mins with the key in "run" but with the engine off - just want to know it's safe - i had a car with electronic ignition and it was bad idea to have the key in the "engine run" position for long time without the engine actually running.

The GLK does not have a dedicated "accesories" position. It's either off - but with the key in (but that doesn't power the 12v ports), or on, and the only other position is "start".

Keyless go here ... the button has positions, one press is "Accessory", another press is "Run", another press is "Off", and then repeat.

If the brake is being held in, then the first press is straight to "Run".
