WARNING: Please do not confuse this oil with Mobil-1 ESP Formula-M 5w-40. They sound alike but they are NOT THE SAME. ESP is for diesel engines ONLY! Also, please DO NOT GET the “over the counter” straight Mobil-1 5w-40 either. This oil does not meet the strict Mercedes Benz 229.5 spec."
Please note:

This oil formulation is no longer available. The new oil recommended by Mobil-1 is their over the counter 0w-40. Castrol Syntec 0w-30 European Formula also meets the 229.5 spec. and is available in the USA.

I also would like to add to this "oil confusion".

My model year 2011 GLK 350 4matic gasoline engine requires 7 Liter / 7.4 quarts only - Although the manual states 8 liter, the dealer confirmed 7 Liter.

I think the difference is between RWD and 4matic, because the front wheel drive shaft of the 4matic is going thru the oil pan.

Mazda 5, GLK350
Prob the multiplate clutch uses the engine oil aswell? The differentials at both end should have their own type of oil anyhow
