Smart Jumper Cables
These come with a surge protector. They are safer than the standard ones which could fry your electronics.
I looked for them at Canadian Tire without success. Anyone in Vancouver know where I can get them? I know Michelin has these smart jumper cables.
MB 's manual says that you can connect to negative connection on your dead battery - page 321. To get to your positive connection just slide the
cover.

There is a grounding lug or post right under the hood. You don't need to remove the blower cover. Did you find smart cables. It seems they are everywhere here. I'll bet Amazon will be happy to sell you a set.
I have used regular cables for years. Make sure everything is turned off and the door closed when you (carefully) connect the cables.

$99 for jumper cables? If someone can't figure to connect the engine blocks or ground chassis together and the two positive together, wait for road side assistance. Surge protection? You going to be hit by lighting when your jumping your Car. A starter can take up to 500 amps or more to get the engine turning. "CCA rating" cold cranking amps. If that ain't a surge, I'm not sure what the surge protection is? Get a basic set of heavy duty, 6 or 4 gauge, cables with good clamps for $20 and forget the other stuff.

Battery Location
I think the battery is located under the hood, but you have to remove the blower ductwork to get access to it. Is this correct? I think I read this, but I have not removed the covers to confirm the actual location of the battery.

If you are starting a dead GLK you don't expose the battery, there is a red cover over the (+) access point and a metal post for the ground.
If you are using the GLK to jump start another vehicule, I suppose you'll need to uncover the battery to get to the (-) terminal.
I prefer to use a booster pack to start dead cars, ... it's much easier to get set up, especially when the dead car is nose first into a parking spot.

Battery
fcch,
Thanks for confirming the location. I know about the sliding cover over the + terminal. I just have not actually taken the ductwork snaps loose and looked inside where I "thought" the battery was located.
Looks to be a breeze to replace, when the time comes!
