How many songs on PCMCIA are supported?

I read an earlier thread on here about how you shouldn't bother with memory cards above 8GB or so, because there was some limit as to the number of folders/files that the COMAND software will enumerate.

Is this still an issue, or has anyone figured out what the concrete limit is? I am about to fill up my 8GB card, was thinking of getting a 16GB card, but not if I wont be able to see all the contents.

The thread I found was for the C class, but I figured it would be the same system:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...rd-sdhc-8.html

They seem to indicate the limit is either 255 total folders (nested subfolders all count, not 255 per nesting level). Or it could be something like 2000-3000 files.

If you have successfully used more than 2000-3000 files or 255 folders (nested), can you please post your results?

I would like to avoid having to use multiple 8GB cards if I can.

I did the experiment, put close to 300 folders with close 4000 songs. First and last folders were there, didn't check for subfolders. It was a bit over 14 gig.
