Parking Assist

With the current weather, we're getting ice/snow on the front and get false alarms during stps. Any way to manually turn off the system?

There is a button just under the volume to turn off the parktronic sensors. I've had to do this as well.

Thanks...I don't get in the vehicle much...it's the wife's. I pointed it out, so we'll see if she follows along.

How "accurate/effective" is the sensor when it is working under normal circumstances? Can I get really close (within inches) to an object by relying on the sensors?

No. I believe if you are closer than 12 inches it's a constant beep. They are still very helpful, when I drove E-class on small european roads, I learned the car dimensions in a day. Also parking in their garages without sensors is almost impossible.

I don't have them on GLK, as they ruin the clean look of the bumbers for me. Why couldn't they put them under bumpers like on ML/GL/X5?

I have had it happen when I get a car wash on cold days, I think its ice forming on the sensor, but it always clears up after driving a for a few mins.

My Lexus used to do it in winter too. Just have to clear the solids off the sensors to resolve.
