Curt Hitch looks the nicest

I installed the Curt Hitch $350 CDN & 1.5 hours total time to install.

I didn't need a wiring harness as I only carry a Dirt Bike and Bicycles.

It's a two inch receiver type.

Thanx. Tomorrow we're getting my mom a GLK, and it doesn't come with the tow hitch, need it to tow my ski boat. The salesperson my dad's bought his mercedes from for the past 20 years is also into boating and he even got his GLK with an aftermarket hitch. Like everyone here has mentioned its almost $2k for dealer instal on oem. I think he put a u-hual hitch on his... not what I plan on doing. But i'm going to have to put a wiring harness.

austinglk350....Can you post pictures of your OEM trailer hitch (w/o bike rack) please? And how do you think the OEM hitch look compare to Valley/Curt hitch ?

The hitch is $1080.00 plus tax; you also need to upgrade the fan on the engine which is priced at $535.00 plus tax.
The labor to install the hitch and fan would be $750.00 we do not stock the needed parts but could special order them and have them here in one or two days."

This would be a $2000+ bike rack for me.
I'm just curious. When I bought my GLK last year. It came with the tow hitch. So my question is, since it is a factory installed hitch, does that mean they've upgraded the fan on my engine too?

Unlike the European OEM (ball) tow hitch, which rapidly can be removed to the dedicated storage box in the trunk, and the connector folded up, making the hitch "invisible" - when not needed.

The roof racks are too cumbersome ( in my opinion ) and there is the potential to drive into low hang obsticles. I tend to haul a lot of bikes too. I'm sure that if you order from Curt ( or the hitch store ) they would be able to direct you to an autorized installer.

I didn't mean to re-open this one up. But some of you have mentioned about an auxiliary cooling fan when having a trailer/tow hitch.

I just had to verify this with one of the MB sales representative and he did say that the factory tow hitch are not even installed at their location, instead, was actually installed, as he stated, "at the factory" and since it was installed "at the factory", they automatically would add a "heavy duty radiatior".
I really don't know what he meant by "factory" but my assumption is Germany. So correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway... that was just an added FYI. But of course, not all the MB dealers offers the same kind of service, so check with yours!

A whole thread on the subject here: https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...g-savings.html

The cooling system upgrade was a heavy duty electric fan. However from 2010 up they are all the same part number so it would seem they're installing the HD one in all of them anyway.
