Coolant Temperature

Just had my GLK for a week. Coolant temperature seems to be running at about 95 degrees Celsius moving the dash guage to almost 3/4 after the car has warmed up and running. I was expecting the temperature guage to stop at about the midpoint which is 80 degrees, but it seems to always go to about 3/4 or about 95.

I was wondering what others have seen their tempuratures get to. Is this common? Seems odd because if it is normal, why wouldn't MB have used a guage indicating the midpoint was 95 and leave enough room for more heat?

Also, outside temp where I am is hovering around -5 Celsius and if this is normal it could get interesting when outside temp gets to 32 in the summer. I know that fan will kick in etc, just seems odd that if this is normal operating temp that it would shou as 3/4 of the guage capacity rather than the midpoint.

What temps are you guys experiencing?

Thanks,
T

I'm in hot south Florida and my reading is exactly the same as NYCGLK.

Same here. Once the car is fully warmed and going it sits a little above midpoint.

I asked this same question when I picked up my GLK back in Oct 09. My GLK is at 84C (a little above half way on the gauge).
