XPEL headlight covers

Has anybody put them on themselves?

I'm thinking of putting them as even after only a year and 8k miles I can see very small dings on the headlights. As I'd like to keep GLK for a while I want to keep headlights protected and film should not be visible. They also have tinted film, but i'm not sure if I want to put those on (illegal, worse lighting etc.) Any feedback on that would be appreciated.

The film specifically for headlights is generally thicker than the body film to increase resistance to damage. It doesn't seem to decrease light output much though, so is a very good idea to install especially when you consider what it costs to replace the plastic headlight housing should it crack/shatter due to a big hit. Personally I would not use anything tinted. I always get the headlights done along with the front of the car.

I meant that the tinted one would decrease the light output not the regular one.

P.S. Nice rides you have picked up since last time I saw you post on GLK forum. All yours?

Any film placed on the headlights can decrease the clarity and intensity of the headlights. The headlight specific films are thicker as I mentioned and hence can reduce light output more than the regular, (thinner), body film that can also be used to cover the lights. Tinted films would obviously decrease optical clarity and strength much more than 'clear' film.

I own all of those cars yes; the GL is the wife's DD; the GLK is my son's as he needs it for school; the S4 is my DD and winter car, and the GT-R is my 'track' toy and automotive 'plaything', (although the S4 is pretty playful itself. lol).

Thanks for reminding me to order mine for my 3-week old GLK. I've used these for 10 years or more on all my vehicles. They are particularly effective here in the West where a lot of sand us used in the winter in lieu of salt.

They are easy to install your self (as I have always done.) You can order them from AutoSport at http://www.autosportcatalog.com/vehi...protection.cfm for $45 plus $10 shipping.

Even most high quality 3M film installers shouldn't charge more than $75 for parts and labour for headlights. I have it on all the cars and you can't tell it's there, especially since it's the thinner, body film.
