How accurate is the fuel gauge?

Hello,

I haven't received my GLK yet so I am asking this question here:

On my Volvo S70 the fuel gauge is very accurate but on my vw from full to half tank it changes slowly and then from 1/2 to empty in no time.

What is it like in the GLK?

I find my fuel gauge to be extremely accurate. Like all cars , if you top it off it takes a while to get off FULL but then it moves proportionally. I also tested it so that when I get below an 1/8 th of a tank the reserve warning comes on.

I don't top it off anymore, I did that once. The pump kicked out at $$ and 25 cents, and I tried to top it up to the next dollar, and it sprayed gas all over the place! I had to go to the car wash right away. Now as soon as it kicks out I just stop. I notice the gas gauge starts moving off the full mark right away when you don't top it up.
For the most part, it seems very accurate. When it is down 1/4 of a tank, it takes about 17 Liters to fill. When the gauge says 1/2 it takes about 34 Liters to fill. On a 66 Liter tank, it very close!

I find that the read out on miles to go before running out is extremely accurate on all the MB that I have owned. I use that feature much more than looking at the cluster guage.

I find the gas gauge very accurate. I also agree about the topping off and getting gas on the exterior. It's happened a couple of times and when it pops I stop pumping. The GLK is the only vehicle I've had trouble with when fueling and having the pump click when its full. I have to hold the pump handle most times.
