The Protector - Permanent Wax
I was offered by the dealer a "Permanent Wax" solution that has a warranty of 5 years for $499 CND. Protects against damage of bird droppings and acid rain.
I can`t help but feel this is a bit of an expensive gimick, but open to others experiences.
Normally I take pretty good care of my car and wash myself, vac myself every coupld of weeks, and then use Autoglym Super resin polish or Rejex a couple of times a year anyway.
Edit - I have a 350 GLK, which is why I posted here - if it should be elsewhere mods, please feel free to move it and accept my apologies.

totally unnecessary. And, I am not even going to pretend I know what they are trying to sell you. But, it you take care of your car as you described, even using Rejex, then you should just be fine. Just remember to wash and wax often, remove bird droppings ASAP, etc.
save yourself 500 and put that money into the resin/wax.

I did get the 'permanent wax' - however mostly because of exactly what webada said -' wash and wax often.'
I don't have the them to wash/wax the car on a monthly basis. I also purchased the car and plan on keeping for 7+ years. So for me, the $500 was a 'cheap' warranty for the paint.

I think this is happening everywhere, after you signed and agreed to the deal. The next step you meet is the financial person. Here he or she will persuade you to add additional option to your purchase. If your not very careful you will end up buying such things that you never need. And now the discount you think from your salesperson was taken away by the finacial department. YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO SAY"NO"
