MB Extended Warranty vs. GM Major Guard...

2011 GLK Extended Warranty Research

So, I've been researching trying to figure out which route to take... In this process I've heard alot about GM Major Guard and apparently, Mercedes accepts it.. so the question is: How does the coverage line up? Where will I get the biggest bang for the buck?

Let's hear it....

I don't know if anybody has considered GM coverage fort their MB......However I will likely buy GM Major Guard for my Cadillac. Just not yet. Major guard is a great policy and it even covers HIDs. And it is additive to the base coverage. And I don't have to pay any inspection fee to get coverage appended to my base coverage. So, I'll just wait.......

Read the June 2010 issue of Consumer Reports. They say that all the plans suck and should be avoided.

not another thread...

let's put this spin...what do you think are the chances of your car having major breakdowns exactly between years 4 and 7 (assuming 3 year extended coverage).

In order to justify 4k warranty you would say that you are 100% certain that you will have at least 4k in repairs in those 3 years. (ignoring interest or gains you can get on this money invested elsewhere)Now if you think it's 50/50 chance you will have 4k in repairs, you should be willing to pay only 2k for this extended warranty.

Also you can always sell the car if repairs start creeping up, but what's there to brake? GLK is made out of 5-7 year old parts, I'm expecting it to be as reliable as a camry.
