It depends on what your GLK already have. iPod® & iPhone® Integration is only a part of the Universal Media Interface (UMI), note:
http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...s_brochure.pdf,
pages 10 and - 13 (check the footnotes on the latter). As you see is the USB Interface another part of the UMI.

I think the cheapest ipod (4-8 GB) holds 1500 songs nowdays. It depends on quality of the music tho.

I do not use the IPOD anymore.Currently I am using a 8GB USB KEY. I find it easier to add songs to USB key than IPOD.

May be due to the way the cards are formatted. FAT vs FAT32 vs. blah blah.

I did not get any USB key with my GLK. I bought an 8GB USB key from Radio Shack and connected with the cable that I got with the car. NEW USB keys are usually FAT32 pre-formatted. I have the factory installed IPOD integration kit and media interface with Harmon Kardon sound system. I also use my APPLE I-TOUCH occasionally. You may want to check with the Service Adviser at your dealer.

A connection in the glove box for your IPOD. Three different cables (one for Apple, second for USB and third for 1/4" mini RCA connection) and if you have the Harmon Kardon sound system then you can also use a Compact Flash Card with an adaptor.
