Anyone in Ontario purchased "tire & rim" protection recently?

$700 for 7 years. I got mind directly from my dealership and recently had to use it. I drove over a curb and sure enough scratched the rim.
Took it in and they said 'only covered if the tire is also damaged.' Pulled out the fine print and it says nothing like that. So after a few calls they agreed that the contract doesn't state that so they will cover it.
So read the fine print!

I don't have the tire and rim coverage. Never thought I would need it. Well a few months ago it cost me $750 for a rim and $150 for labor and tax. I may have broken even at this point just have to b e a little bit more careful.

I was offered the coverage for $1200. Within 2 min. I was able to get the guy down to $975 but said "no" after reading the very fine print.

I'm not a fan of most extended warranties because in most cases it's insurance you'll never need. As with overall automobile extended warranties, the answer lies in the fine print of the policies and the financial health of the insurance company that underwrites the policies. Check the company's financial rating. Then make sure you read the policy carefully before signing a check to make sure you know for certain what is and is not covered. Most standard tire road-hazard policies link the remaining tread depth to how much will be paid toward new tires, even if there's a catastrophic road hazard. What buyers of these more expensive wheel-tire policies should look for is a policy that will pay for a new tire in the event of a blowout, regardless of tread depth.
And when it comes to wheel coverage, most of the new wheel policies will only pay for repair of a bent aluminum wheel as opposed to replacement of the wheel. This is what turned me off to the policy. Many policies limit how damaged a wheel must be before repairs will even be covered. That's a load of

^ So true! These wheels can be found all over the place for less than 1/4 of what the dealership sells them for. I just can't stand having to argue and haggle with a dealer/insurance company only to find out that the fine print gets them off the hook usually.

for $500 is a maybe...I didn't go for it...as for all of my 30 years of driving I've never had a a bad wheel and/or tire damage with my luxury vehicles
