40k compared to 30k should include:
extra cabin filter, air filter, extra brake fluid flush and extra B service...at dealer rates that's about 800 bux...so I'm not sure if it's includes the tranny service

MBZ dealer in scottsdale wanted $1069 for 40k service on my 2010 C300. i took it to a local garage that has done service on my lexus in the past and told them to just do the major stuff (oil change and filter, tranny and filter, brake fluid flush), which cost $375. i ordered all of the air filters on ebay, which cost $35, appear to be very good quality and installed myself (got the filters from import auto parts with free delivery which took two days). total cost $410 and i am not concerned that it was inferior work or parts (in fact the garage got its parts from the same mercedes dealer that gave me the estimate).

Look, to go over this again - DON'T buy the ppd service at time of purchase - 10K service is "cheap" - buy the 30K before your 20K service and get 20-30-40 for total $1829

All of this is absolutely staggering. I was with a MB dealer for many many years and subjected many people to this atrocity. We now operate an independent German specialty shop.
We service many "under warranty" vehicles. Most A type services run 125-140. B type services are 200-250. 722.9 Type trans services run appx 250-300. Brake fluid is serviced when needed (this was a must sell thing at MB on every damn ticket). I also cannot tell you haw many times, at the dealer, engine and cabin filters were changed when they were perfectly serviceable. These prices afford our customers a good deal and a fair profit for us.
We document specifically the use of OEM specific filters, fluid types, items checked and inspected in order to prevent any sort of warranty related issues concerning non dealer performed maintenance. On the flip side, our customers do sacrifice the free doughnuts, coffee, car washes, and the potential of a loaner.
You all need to find a good independent shop with qualified people.

Pre Paid Maintenance
I just brought my 2018 GLC300 to Ray Catena in Edison, NJ for it's first 10k maintenance. After asking about pre-paid maintenance, he looked on his computer and gave me a price of $1020 (plus tax) for a 3 year service agreement. I confirmed that this was for the 20k, 30k, and 40k maintenance (B, A and B). YES! I jumped at it. I think I made the right choice since they have been very accommodating with everything that I have brought to their attention.

Auto Hans Addison
Hi, I'm late to this l know... I bought a used 2015 S550 in 2018. I took it to the dealer for the first service, A in 2019. I took it to Park Place Grapevine. They quoted me close to $800 for the next B service. I found Auto Hans in Addison, Tx last year when I needed front brakes. Dealer wanted almost $2k. Hans did it with MB OEM products with an alignment for $1100. I'm taking my car in tomorrow for the B service along with the 40k mile service - $475 plus tax. He is a Mercedes certified mechanic and only works on German cars. He's convenient and will offer a loaner car if you need it. Hope this helps someone... 😊
