wheel and tire damage

I had a very bad morning commute today. One of my AMG rims got scraped and tire sidewall's rubber got cut because a dumb driver using a cellphone merged without signaling and he almost hit me. I pulled to the right for him not to hit my car but ALAS I hit the curb instead! Stupid me I didn't get the plate number as I was swearing in the whole process.

So now I am looking at repairing the rims and can someone give a recommendation of a local shop in vancouver who repairs rims (really well) that won't charge an arm and a leg and how much would it cost. I know some won't even bother repairing it but I treat my car's wheels like my own shoes...so it must not look ****y.

thanks in advance.

Have you checked with your local MB dealership? I'm sure they all vary, but my local dealer offers wheel repair and dent/scratch repairs. The GLK I bought was a demo model and each of the two rear wheels had curb rash. Part of our deal was getting the wheels repaired as part of my purchase. I dropped the car off one morning to them at 7:30 am and had it back that afternoon. The repair is absolutely flawless and undetectable even under close inspection. I don't know what they would normally charge for that service though.

Don't fret it happens all the time... The dealer will ship it out to a local vendor... or you can Google a Wheel Repair in your area and do it your self. You could also buy another OEM wheel for about $700 bucks online.

I know it happens all the time but I would feel better if it wasn't my fault. You think $225 to fix the rim is too much?

$180-$225 is about right....no need to get a new wheel unless its got a crack.
Ask a few local auto body repair shops who they use. Best price is not always the best job.

I had a rim replaced due to pothole damage $900.00 about 2.5 years ago. Had all my rims redone by MB dealership a few months ago. All 4 $500.00. I was hard on the wheels when I first got the vehicle and waited til now to repair. They look brand new.

GLK
I just got my GLK back from the body shop last week after being hit on the right side of my car.

Cost for reconditioned 20" wheel was $210.

Total cost: $13,335. The repairs took over 3 weeks to complete, had to order the right side airbag from Germany.

Happy that it looks like new again.
