Leveled the headlights

I have the bixenons and I always thought they were aimed way too low when I got it. I used to retrofit headlights, so I used the rule of thumb of parking 25 feet away and making sure the lowest part of the beam cutoff is 2 inches below the level of the headlight. In my case, the hid peojector is approximately 31 inches above the ground (may be different depending tires/wheel diameter), so at 25 feet from a wall, the lowest part of the beam should be at 29" above the ground on both sides. However, before adjustment they were around 27". I brought both sides up to 29" and I can see much farther without blinding oncoming traffic.

This sets the baseline off of which the "self-leveling" mechanism works.

Did you remember to deactivate the auto leveling motor before you adjusted the lights?

darn...wish I could do this with factory bi-xenons.... it does seem a bit lower.
The C Klasse looks really sharp like a "diamond" shining out.
With the GLK's can't seem understand why it does not look "wow"?
Any easy tip to make these adjustments?

You can do it on factory bixenons, that's what I have. You need an allen wrench to adjust them. There is hole above each headlight that you can see when you pop your hood.

koojo,

thanks for the update. I noticed when i used the horn, the light aimed up to where when I first got the GLK.
I tried again on the highway (open road) and what a difference it made!

When you make the adjustment, is it permanent or do you have to keep resetting it?
I do not know if the dealer adjusted these or they adjust themselves...but the range of view is much less than when first driving for a month or so ...

Adjusting the headlights will find a base level off if which the self-leveling mechanism can work off of. The base level does not change unless you physically pop the hood and use an allen wrench to adjust them to a new base level.

sounds crazy...but yes...when you honk while driving and if you got the bi-xenon that have the adaptive technology, the lights in fact bounce up another 50-100 yards from original position.
Gotta try it to believe it. Do it on a dark road and see the difference.
This is the level of adjustment I need to make but yet to know how I can do so, perfectly?

was at the dealer today and had the MB advisor stand about 25 feet in front of the GLK and I honked...and even he could not believe it either.
