The EULA that comes with the disk says that if you sell the disk you may not retain any of the data. So I guess that installing it on the hard drive of the car is not retaining any of the data so I guess that makes it legal.

Having the original disk would allow you to set up a group buy and ultimately retain the disk...since it starts and ends with the same person...here is an example

The link shows how the group buy is done. Also the W204-c class uses the same update. So anyone looking for/starting a group buy can go to this forum and copy the procedure as shown.

I would not bother updating the nav system. It is supported by a US company who don't update Canadian content. We have had a new highway out of the ferry from Twassasen to Vancouver for the last two years and it still indicates we are driving into a farmers field. You can buy a small Garmin for $70 and get free updates saving the $250 MB charges.
