Wow... you guys are too smart.
I just took out the front one( passenger side) and yes... it is super TIGHT.
It seems like they put locktite to lock it down or something.
It is counter clockwise to unscrew it.
Please don't blame me if you break the pin.
Suggestion for 420tee, since you just want it shorter, why don't you lock the door so the pins go down, then mark the height that you want, then unlock the car so the pins go up, trim down where you marked ..... without actually taking it out.....

Here is another picture of the pin with measurement.
As you can see, you can shave off a little bit but not much, I think just enough not to poke in your arm.
I think you'll have a hard time to pull it up manually if needed, if you actually shave it down.
About the rear ones, dare or not, i am not trying to take it out until I am ready to change them.
Here is another picture I've found on the net.
It does not tell how to remove the old pins but only show you how the new pin could look.

thanks for that measurement. I guess once you shave-off the bottom part you still need to lengthen the screw hole to push the tab down IF the end of the metal rod is already touching the top inside part of the tab. hmmm......I think a complete replacement will work better.

I tried again yesterday in my daily driver. My arm doesn't come within 6" of the door lock post. Y'all must have your seats all the way up and all the way back.

Wish the GLK has the first gen murano adjustable pedals that I find very useful even to the petite wife.

In Germany, the GLK is offered with shorter lock pins that are flush when the doors are locked.
The part number for the north american (long) ones is A 000 766 00 28
The part number for the european (flush) ones is A 127 766 00 22
This is for both the driver and passenger's side FRONT door only.
You can get your dealer to order them or just order them online. They are compatible with the NA GLK.

You might want to pop the door panel off and do the install, which is fairly easy to do.
