MICROFIBER
Why does it states on the owner's manual that you cannot use microfiber in cleaning the mbtex? Is it because the microfiber is abrassive?

Mostly because it is considered abrasive by MB.

IMO - once in awhile is okay with a MF towel or in an emergency but a damp terry cloth should be used on a regular basis.
But be sure to vacuum the crumbs & dirt FIRST before wiping - that is the real enemy.
