2013 GLK Refresh w/ NEW BLUE EFFICIENT V6 (20/29 mpg in 2012 C-Class)-Worth the Wait?
And anyways, don't you have Star Trek reruns to watch?
But I think you're right about one thing, your mother does all the moisturizing for you...
Oh wait, your hand must slip on the steering wheel from all the moisture & you mistake that for the twitchy steering.
Yeah that's right- Get your own material - but from the looks of thing - you still have to ask for permission from daddy.
Enjoy trying to make ends meet penny pinching the gas budget.
Or pinching your dad's loaf.
Lemme guess, I sense Dockers, polo shirts, sweater vests, loafers, and phrases like, "sophomoric."
Pretty much on target, right?

Anyway, man those gas prices are getting up and up. It was 3.50 for 87 up here DFW region.
Since it is possible to make vehicles that get good mpgs I much rather drive a car that gets good mileage than one that does not. It may be a $20K a $40k or a $60k car. I personally only buy German cars and I prefer Diesel power because I like low end torque and driving at low rpms. Also they keep their value better and because of the low rpms they live longer. I am considering the X3 2.0d, the Audi Q5 2.0 TDI, the Mercedes GLK250 BlueTec. Who ever offers a 4cyl Diesel in the USA first and gets 40 mpgs is the one I'll buy, otherwise I keep driving what I have....
...I rather spend the Dollars on a cruise than blowing it into the air.
In the 70's the VW Rabbit Diesel got 50mpgs, in the 90's the Audi A2 and VW Lupo got 80mpgs, the Smart CDI gets 90mpgs....it's not too much to ask to get a modern mid size SUV that gets 40mpg's especially when I am paying $40000 for it.
I suggest the lobbyists for Detroit's failing companies focus on improving their own vehicles instead of getting laws passed that hinder foreign manufacturers from importing/manufacturing/selling their most efficient and most advanced technology in the US....

But as it currently stands - I don't know what your definition of good mpgs is but if getting an SUV to squeeze 20-21 mpgs combine is good then the cost benefit analysis says it's not worth it.
With diesel, the pricing at the pump in the USA doesn't calculate to the SUV owner's advantage & the payback is almost never material.
Furthermore, at some point, it's physics & hauling a couple of tons + around is going to tax any engines' efficiency.
I drive 50+mpg rental cars in Europe all the time. $10/gal of fuel is nothing new there and that's where we are going in the US. My old 1996 BMW 318tds wagon with 210000km gets 40mpgs easy....and when I want I just poor vegetable oil in it and it runs just fine....

A GLK250Diesel compared to a GLK350 will always bring more money when it is time to resell it. Just look at the resale value of Golf, Jetta & Passat TDI's compared to the gas models.
I have owned at least 30 different Mercedes' ...from 300SEL 6.3 to a 200D fin-body to my last new Mercedes, a 2005 C230K. The worst was the CL600, the best was the W123 240D.

Even with the technology we have, we have no technology to go against gravity weighing these vehicles down...
